Commencement - continued
Today, Sound Families grants total $38.4 million out of the $40 million committed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. We are now ironing out the details of a final round of capacity grants to distribute the remaining Sound Families funds.
Luckily, the close of Sound Families is hardly a true farewell. The Gates Foundation and dozens of other funders remain committed to ending family homelessness in our state. This month I will transition to a new post directing family homelessness initiatives with Building Changes, which is deepening its partnership with the Gates Foundation on behalf of homeless families. I am thrilled to be moving on to a new endeavor to help bring stability to at-risk families in our region.
As we take stock on our collective accomplishments, and now plan for our future goals, I want to thank you all one last time for your unwavering friendship and dedication to helping our neighbors in need. Though in a sense we’re moving on, I have a feeling that we’ll be seeing plenty of each other—both in our collective hard work and shared success—long into the future.
